Ibiza 2010 season update
With the season flying by we thought it about time we gave you some insight into this seasons happenings...

Now two months into Ibiza 2010 we at Ibiza Calling thought it was about time we gave you an update on the island's goings on. With all the usual gossip flying around about numbers on the island, quality of parties and whether the Guardia are causing tourists grief, we at IC HQ have only good things to say! Yes it took a while to pick up and yes there are still businesses struggling, but Ibiza is never easy and only the best survive!
The main news for all you DC10 fans is that the club is open, with no run-ins with the Guardia and it is better than ever! New residents Dyed Soundorom, Jamie Jones and Seth Troxler are proving a hit and the new sound system is holding up to the barrage of techno. So forget the hype, lies and gossip, DC10 is here to stay!
Space have put together a fantastic schedule this year with a host of DJs and live acts from many genres. The biggest for us being Leftfield live at Come Together when they took the roof off. We Love Sundays at Space continues to push the boundaries with Live acts. Groove Armada are due to perform live on August 15th and Aphex Twin for the closing on 26th September. Kehakuma built on last year with a long season of parties showcasing some of the top underground talent. This can only be a healthy thing for the club scene in Ibiza.
Pacha caused the biggest shock of the summer by securing Luciano’s service for a weekly Sunday residency. While reviews have been mixed there’s no doubt that they have created a stir. Luciano's free parties on Sundays soon came to an end, which is understandable from Pacha's point of view. Why go to Pacha and pay a fortune when you can see Luciano for free earlier in the day? Still, at least he is carrying on the free party spirit some Thursday nights at a variety of venues. David Guetta has been selling out week in week out with a ridiculously high ticket price of around 80 Euros. Will David Guetta become the next Mayor of Ibiza?
Amnesia has not made any significant headway with their summer parties. Cocoon continues to rule the roost with 11 new guests on board this summer. Cream continues to do well, mainly due to its UK fanbase. The People From Ibiza events are new to 2010 and perhaps are being used a test for 2011? We hope so, having seen the likes of Richie Hawtin and Laurent Garnier showcasing their talent on a Friday night. Aside of this, we at IC HQ believe there is room for improvement at Amnesia. Other nights, while busy aren’t delivering any major headlines, so we hope for something new in 2011.

Eden continues to dominant the San Antonio nightlife with big nights like Pete Tongs Wonderland and Judge Jules Judgement Sundays. Reclaim The Dancefloor is also going well on the back of the fantastic live events at Ibiza Rocks! With headline acts such as Calvin Harris, Dissie Rascal adn the mighty Prodigy live music is leading the way.
Privilege is another club with mixed fortunes so far this summer. Supermartx is hugely popular and recently welcomed Paris Hilton who was given mixed messages from the crowd. Tiesto continues to draw a huge crowd on Monday nights, while new Saturday Night Project is building pace and should see good numbers come mid August. As always the size of the club makes it a challenge, but fear not Radio One will be over in early August to pack the place out with an all star lline up in conjunction with Cream. Also worth nothing is September 4th when Faithless perform live.
Es Paradis continues to do well in San Antonio, no doubt the arrival of Head Kandi has benefited the club massively. The Zoo Project at Gala Night has built a strong following of workers and holiday makers alike. Reports of 60 Euros entry on the door sound like they are in a strong position...
Elsewhere, free parties are rife in 2010, and more of them please! The IC team have so far enjoyed Luciano at Ushuaia, Novum and La Plage, while Sands have also been hosting some great parties. Facebook seems to be the best place to keep track of the free party scene, so keep an eye out of our fanpage for all you need to know. With some parties getting shut down early, we are sure there will be a few fines this year, but the parties keep on coming so there should be no major worries about the party scene this year.
With the summer flying past we are already talking about the closing parties. With a massive closing party from We Love Space (Aphex Twin AND Basement Jaxx) its the final weekend that has to be the one. Loco Dice, Hawtin and Carola at Amnesia, a huge weekend of clubbing at Space and of course not forgetting DC10’s closing party on the Monday, in-between a whole host of beach parties, villas parties and boat parties which leaves us feeling rather excited to say the least!
