Cycling is a great way to enjoy the island's colourful scenery and warm Mediterranean climate. There are 20 well planned routes which take cyclists along the rugged coastline and inland through beautiful forests and vineyards. For the more energetic cyclist, there are routes leading through the mountains. Cycling is a fantastic way to explore the island and find it's hidden ancient monuments, ruins and watch towers.

Ibiza's Southwest, and most of the North Coast is perfect cycling country, for both road and off-road (mountain biking) routes. The Ruta des Plans and Es Camp Vell are cycle routes which run through the Sant Mateu Valley - an area famous for its vineyards. You will also pass some beautiful beaches - the perfect place to rest tired legs!

The Balearic Council have been focused on promoting Sports Tourism in Ibiza with cycling firmly on the agenda. Thanks to the tourism authorities working with Local Government, Ibiza is now criss-crossed with hundreds of kilometres of clearly marked cycle routes, with information boards showing the points of interest along the way.

Tourism offices in Ibiza stock leaflets showing the cycle routes, or information can be obtained from the website www.ibizacicloturismo.com, which is currently only in Spanish.
