Information on Ibiza
All the information you could want to make the most of your time in Ibiza...

Ibiza is the third largest Balearic Island, located in the Mediterranean Sea about 80 km from mainland Spain. Its largest cities are Ibiza Town, Santa Eulalia and Sant Antonio.
Widely acclaimed as the clubbing capital of the world, Ibiza is an island of excess. It’s a unique, free spirited and to many a hedonistic place. Nights are celebrated by party going tourists and there is a strong bohemian culture that still exists in the north. Clubbing is a major part of Ibiza’s local economy, however there is much more to the island than its club scene.
The island offers stunning scenery and more than fifty beaches along its shoreline ranging from beautiful expansive sandy stretches to small cliff backed coves. Ibiza’s hills inland are thickly forested and boast tremendous views over the rest of the island. The capital, Ibiza Town with its stunning architecture, historic walled enclave and port offers some hip bars, restaurants and fashionable boutiques.
Although Ibiza is best known for its summer club parties attracting large numbers of tourists year after year, the Spanish Tourist Office have been working hard to shed the prevailing "sex-and-alcohol" image in order to promote more family-oriented tourism. The local government has ambition plans to make Ibiza more exclusive and curb the number of clubbers that travel to the island each year.
Language:
While Catalan and Spanish are the official languages of Ibiza, a dialectal variation of Catalan called Eivissenc or Ibicenco is more readily spoken by both the residents and those of Formentera. Additionally, because of the influence of tourism and expactriates living or maintaining residences on the island, there are other, atypical languages, such as English, German and Russian. Polylinguality is the norm, not the exception.
Climate:
The climate in Ibiza is Mediterranean with milder winters but slightly cooler summers than Majorca. The winters are generally mild with temperatures around 15° Celsius during the day (60° Fahrenheit) and 8° Celsius at night. The hottest time of the year is July and August with temperatures reaching 30°C (85°F) most afternoons. The lowest recorded temperature in Ibiza is -5°C , the highest is 37°C.
