San Jose

San Jose is a picturesque village situated in the south of the island in a valley surrounded by thickly forested hills. With a population of just four hundred, San Jose is not a tourist resort nor does it have many hotels, so you will benefit from seeing just how life goes on in an Ibizian village. You will find a number of good villas to rent in the area and there is easy access by road to the beautiful beaches in the south as well as San Antonio and Ibiza Town via the southern highway. There are regular bus services which travel through the region.
If you fancy exploring by foot some of the beautiful countryside surrounding San Jose you will find many interesting trails to follow. If you enjoy outdoor activities, San Jose is an excellent location for sailing, wind-surfing, fishing, mountain biking, hiking and horse riding. Go to our activities section to find out more.
There are a number of good bars and restaurants in the area and the village has an attractive little high street with a wonderful central plaza shaded by pine trees. From here you will see the lovely landmark of Esglesia de Sant Jose, one of the largest churches on the island. Dating back to 1726 this imposing whitewashed building has a 3 storey façade with a triple-arched porch way. It is well worth a visit.
