Airline Happy in Ibiza... But are you?

Post date: Sunday 25 October 2009 03:44

The director of sales for Ryanair, Luis Fernandez-Melado, was in Ibiza last week on a brief visit, claiming his company would not stop until they were transporting a million people to and from the island.

Having stayed away from Ibiza for many years, the low-cost Irish airline started to fly to three destinations last October as it looked to exploit what it saw as a gap in the winter market, and not only that but many travellers now avoid ryan air at ALL COSTS!!

Fernandez-Melado said the first twelve months had been hugely positive and the company, after increasing their flights to nine other destinations in the summer months, including Liverpool and East Midlands, transported a total of 220,000 passengers. This was a significant increase from the 15,000 recorded on the winter flights to Stansted, Milan and Girona (Barcelona).
He continued that the winter routes to Stansted and Milan would continue, but that Dusseldorf would replace the Girona route.

In June of this year the company opened talks with Boeing and Airbus about ordering up to 300 more aircraft in a deal that would make the low-budget carrier more than double the size of British Airways. The order will be split into two phases, with the first order comprising 100 aircraft followed by up to 200 more later. If Ryanair adds another 300 aircraft to its fleet by 2016, it will have a total of 600, all of which would be needed if the carrier is to hit its target set out by chief executive Michael O'Leary of transporting over 100 million customers by 2012, rising to 150 million in 2016.

However after all the bad rep the airline has recieved from unhappy customers...will they reach target by adding Ibiza.. or will passangers go with other airline companies?
