Fire brings chaos to Benirras in Ibiza
Benirras, in the north west of Ibiza, famed for its sunsets and hippy community became engulfed in fire on Sunday evening. Around 6pm local time cars were catching fire and exploding and with Sunday being the busiest day on the beach the whole area became chaos. Reports say the police made things worse by their management of the situation as they were panicking as well.
Up to 700 people were stranded on the beach and had to be rescued by nearby boats. Many houses have been lost and the fire was still out of control late into last night. Over 1500 people have been evacuated as fire crews struggle to bring the situation under control.
