Sunset on the west coast... One aspect of the island that brings everyone together is the spectacular sunset which can be seen off the west coast. Whether you want an Ibizian hippy experience sitting on Benirras beach listening to drummers, or to join the crowds sipping cocktails at one of the renowned chillout bars along Sunset Strip in San Antonio; either way it’s a memorable and essential part of the Ibiza experience.

Day trip to Formentera... The island of Formentera boasts some of Spain's longest, cleanest, whitest and least crowded beaches that make you feel like you have travelled well beyond Europe! Only a 20-minute ferry ride away, the island makes a fantastic getaway from the hustle and bustle of Ibiza's main resorts. There are some fantastic restaurants to enjoy as well!

Closing parties... The end of the summer season in late September has always been celebrated in fine style. The parties have become so popular that the start of the season in June is now equally full of big celebrations. Whether you are a regular visitor or looking to go for the first time, the last week in September is always great value for money. The weather is still in the mid twenties and if you like clubbing you will enjoy some of the best parties the island has to offer.

Find Atlantis... Atlantis is an undiscovered part of Ibiza which forms part of its rich mystical history, created over 1,000 years ago when rock was quarried to build the fortress walls of Ibiza town. Over the centuries stonemasons and artists have created their own sculptures that include dragons and people emerging from the rocks. This artificial outdoor gallery located by the sea is a great and magical escape. There are no official signs, all we would say is head to the south west of the island, find the private watch tower (Torre des Cap des Jueu) that looks out to the wonderful ‘Es Vedra’ rock formation, and look down to your left.

Visit the hippy markets... Ibiza has two main hippy markets. Es Cana Hippy market held on Wednesdays, which is located in the north west of the island in the Arabi complex, just outside the town. The second hippy market is known as Las Dalias and is held on Saturdays. The market was set up in 1985 with just five stalls but has now grown to over 200 stalls with a wonderful array of jewellery, clothing and ceramics. The market can be found in the small village of San Carlos, a few miles north of Es Cana.

Visit the Dalt Vila... Rising up above the rest of Ibiza Town, the historic Dalt Vila actually means ‘high town’. Representing the oldest part of the town, the rocky escarpment is topped by huge Renaissance walls that surround Ibiza’s finest monuments. Here you will find two museums, the town hall, the fortress Catalan cathedral and the craggy Moorish castle. Climbing to the 100m summit is recommended for spectacular views over Ibiza Town, its harbour and out towards the island of Formentera.

Visit the Salinas salt pans... The Ibiza salt pans represent over 1,000 acres of land and at their height made up Ibiza’s main industry. In fact the salt was used to finance the city wall that surrounds Ibiza Town. Today around 60,000 tonnes of salt is exported annually with the highest quality going to Norway for salting cod and the rest heading to Scotland to help salt the roads. If you take one of the small tracks off the main road from Playa Den Bossa to Salinas you will find a good view point to see the pans.

Picnic looking at Es Vedra... Rising to 378m above sea level, this seemingly semi-submerged volcano is in fact a limestone outcrop. It represents one of the best sights across all of the Balearic islands and makes perfect viewing while having some food and a few drinks. The best place to view Es Vedra is from a cliff top overlooking the beach of Cala d’Hort. You will find a dirt track off the main road leading to the cliff top, which makes the perfect spot for a picnic.

Party on the beach... Outdoor partying in Ibiza used to be a regular occurance with clubs such as Space, Amnesia and Privilege having open-air terraces. Outdoor partying is a liberating experience, especially on the beach. With beach bars such as Bora Bora, Delano and the fantastic Ushuaia, partying on the beach is the best it's been in years. If you are lucky enough to find an after party on the beach, you're in for a real treat.

Ibiza restaurants... Eating good food is all part of the holiday experience and when it comes to Ibiza, you are spoilt for choice. While there are obviously hundreds to choose from, we have tried to provide you with a selection of the best - the ones we recommend. Highlights include L'Elephant and Alyoun in San Rafael, Bambuddha Grove and Aura on the San Joan road, and Yuan and Andres fish restaurant on the island of Formentera; but there are many more!
