The main areas for bars in Ibiza are Ibiza Town, San Antonio, Playa d'en Bossa and Santa Eulalia. Ibiza nightlife starts to get going after midnight and tends to carry on until the early morning.

For lively pre-club Ibiza Town bars try Base Bar and Rock Bar by the port, or if you want to chill out in style go to the IBZ Lounge where the Mao Rooms used to be. The Dome is the place to go if you want to enjoy Ibiza Town's gay scene or for a night of live music including blues, jazz, rock, R&B and reggae head to the Teatro Pereira. Grial is the ideal location for stopping off on the way to Pacha, open all year round with many of its best parties in the winter months. Gurana is one of the best bars in Santa Eualia, also open all year round, offering live music and djs.

For daytime drinking and relaxing on the beach head to Playa Den Bossa where you will find an impressive selection of bars including Nassau, Sirroco, Ushuaia, Sands, Delano, La Plage de L’elephant and Bora Bora dotted along the southerly stretch of the beach. The atmosphere is fairly relaxed earlier on in the day, then from mid-afternoon onwards the music is turned up and many of the bars turn into lively outdoor clubs with people dancing on the sand. Other beachside bars worth noting are Blue Marlin Beach Club on Cala Jondal beach and Sa Trinxa bar on Salinas beach - both places to see and be seen!

To watch the sunset and listen to chillout beats go to Cafe Mambo, Cafe Del Mar or Savannah on the famous sunset strip in San Antonio. Sunset Ashram bar on Cala Conte beach and Cap des Falco bar on Playa des Codolar are both great spots for watching the sunset, both located in the south west of the island.

For some luxury and ambience in the countryside, sip cocktails on the terrace at Atzaro country hotel or head to some of the island's best country lounge bars, KM5 on the San Josep road or Novum, Aura and Bambuddha Grove on the San Juan road.
